How to build and maintain a Chicken Coop

Can You have chickens within Dallas, TX city limits?

I was thinking on making a chicken coop, but I wanted to make sure that before I made it if i could really own them within the city limits. I have heard two different answers and I wan’t to get my facts straight. I was told by an animal control officer that I could have hens but not roosters(unless the voice box was hurt to the fact that it couldn’t disturb anyone). Does anyone know what th real law is and if so could you tell me?

Maybe you could call the animal control office and get it directly from them? One time when I questioned my animal control office how many dogs I could have they questioned me my address then they pulled out a map and looked up exactly what my area was zoned for. So, like, what I’m saying is even if somebody comes on here and says "I live in Dallas and I have this many chickens and nobody cares" it may only apply to their neighborhood! So best to get it from animal control.
