How would I go about finding local allotment land?

And how would I go about renting a piece of allotment land, are allotments private owned or owned by the local council?

Are animals also allowed to be kept on allotments? As I have a pig, and am interested in purchasing hens and setting up a chicken coop.

When I feed other peoples chicken coops and find mystery eggs I get to keep them. When my own coop produces mystery eggs I can’t keep them. What’s up with that? Is that the way the game works or am I getting the small end of the stick with a game glitch?
