I would place plastic over the areas that rain can get in but make sure you dont air tight the plastic where the chicks wont be able to breathe. If you have a fenced in area then let your chicks run around in that. i have a dog kennel that my chicks run around in and they like it. Or sometimes they get loose and i just bribe them with food and they come back. But its ok if your chicks get a small wet but not drenched and make sure that they lost all there baby feathers before they do get a small wet. Hope this helps
Give it more protection from the rain .Its only logic .
you really need to protect them from the rain. try putting plastic over the top and sides of the hutch when the rain stops it is easily removed, as far as exercise…. all animals need daily exercise. I would save up for a real Chicken coop, where they are protected from all weather elements and have plenty of room for exercise. Excellent Luck!
i live on a farm and have grown up around all farm animals.
if you have a arge coop you need a place fo the to roost out of the rain such as:
1get a half a tank and place on its side and place a plank of wood and place roosting boxes in it
2 bild a small house in their coop and start putting their feed in there and watevert they sleep in in there they should start to stay in there out of the rain
3some small non-poisonous bushes or small or large trees.
i hope ive helped we done thid=s in our coops.
excellent luck
