Chicken coop bedding? What is the best bedding to place in a chicken coop?

I have been told that sawdust/paper/straw are all excellent. Is this right?

You can use any of those, but i would try to avoid the paper.
I use hay with my chooks, and sawdust for the ducklings or chicks (:

We use hay – it offers warmth, it’s cheap and simple to remove and replace when it is soiled.

chickens roost at night, they like to be off the ground. we always used straw in the nesting boxes though.

  4. i dunno says:

Whatever is readily available in your area i would avoid the newspaper, corncob bedding, straw, hay, sand, really anything to keep it as dry as possible.
