I just got a bantam frizzle chicken from a friend. He does not have a lot of feathers at the moment because he was being picked on by other chickens that she has. She has a large assortment of chickens. They are all kept in one coop, but it is divided into 3 areas. He is about 7 months ancient she said. When I got him home I realised he had snot coming out of his beak. He seems to be pleased, always talking to me as he gets more comfortable with me…. and nothing seems amiss aside from this runny nose. I picked him up on Monday and he rode with me back home an hour and a half in the car back home. I read somewhere online that runny noses can be caused by stress. If so, how long does this take to clear up? What are all of the illnesses that have runny noses as a symptom? He doesn’t sound like he has distress breathing and he seems pretty pleased. Is there anyway to fix this? I questioned her if her other chickens have this and she said no but she has a lot of chickens… I have never owned a chicken
before, so I’m not sure what to expect. I am really urgent to get some help for this.
(My friend also said he should get all of his feathers back in about 2 weeks… the feathers on his head are coming in fantastic, but the ones on his wings and his body have yet to appear. How long should I wait for them to grow back or will they ever grow?)

If I cannot get these materials in a few days, will his cold turn into something worse or will it clear up?

It sounds like your chicken has a cold. I would give it some extra vitamins in it’s water. Give it some high protein pellets or Game Bird food. (24%) Place it in a cage with a 75 watt bulb in a distress light at one end of the cage. That way he can stay warm and go away if he gets to warm.
Get some Aureomycin and give in water or mix it up in a scrambled egg and feed it to him. When you go through the cycle with the Aureomycin then give it some pro-biotics. You might have to do this twice but that should do the trick.
