How to build and maintain a Chicken Coop

Doesn’t it disgust you, how some egg farmers don’t let their chicken run freely, and coop them up in cages?

If egg cartons doesn't say free run chickens don't buy them, because they come from chickens cooped up in radiation cages.

yep, thast why i always buy free-range eggs. battery farmers also use artificial light to make the chickens lay up to three times a day.

yeah , come to reckon of it , it does disgust me , I've heard that these chickens are kept in cages so small they can't even turn around in them

whats worse my friend is the fact that chicken farmers who sell chicks, for example….kentucky fried chicken for one, remove there beaks and feed them thru tubes so they cant peck each other……. this small tid bit made me become a vegetarian. also ostrich farmers hit them in the head with a ballbat to kill them for meat

  7. 85natrapS says:

"Free-range" isn't regulated by the FDA.
So theoretically, any egg company can place that on their cartons.

This country eats millions of chickens and eggs everyday. Should we cut down all the forests and turn them into chicken ranges. Free run eggs are fine for rich liberal elites, but the hungry masses of the world need inexpensive reliable chicken coop eggs. Thats what I eat!

the same could be said about our daily lives.. going to work returning home and doing the same thing everyday.. isn't the "man" caging us to pay for our mortgages/rent and making us want everything tangible.. rather than roaming the lands free? just a thought.

    i'm not disgusted.

they're chickens. if you want to argue that they're a living creature, i'll argue their existence is artifically made and they wouldn't exist at all in nature.

Yes, but this is sadley a common site here in America, especialey at large farm's and one that are controlled by Government funds, You can learn more and other stuff that goes on besides abuse of just chickens (it's only just the tip of the iceburg, if you reckon the chicken thing is terrible!) Go to "the meatrix.com"

I grew up on a chicken farm……..yes, some of the chickens
could roam around in a fenced yard. When they were older,
and ready to lay eggs, we place them in a cage, that had hay place in there, and there was water and food outside the cage where they could reach it. It was not an simple job, cleaning those cages every nite after school. Not a radiation
cage. I do not even know what that means. The cages were large enough so they could walk around…..after they had their eggs, they would sit on them, and I would have to get them, and place in a basket…baskets……then, help clean the
eggs, place each egg next to this light, to insure it was clear,
no blood inside, etc……then place in the cartons to have the
truck pick them up and ship to whatever they were sold.
How can a chicken run loose and just drop the eggs all over? Lol It doesn't work that way.
    I just checked my dozen eggs….Hillandale Farms…GradeA Jumbo………
There was nothing…….free run chicken……..You really got me…..no such thing…..if it is printed on the carton….they can be sued. Fake advertising.
