I found 8 fertilized chicken eggs and took them in to place in the fridge. Is this cruel? We only meant to get hens but a rooster happened to be in the batch and so most likely the eggs are fertile. The eggs were only laid this morning. So I doubt the babies are even really there, right? I kind of feel terrible, but we can’t have too many chickens wandering around the yard. They’ve been in the fridge about two hours now, but I place one back in the nest so that the hens would continue laying in that area. Do you reckon that’ll work? I can’t have them laying in a new spot because then the eggs could hatch and we’d have to get rid of the babies.
Our chickens roam free, no coop.

– No its not, some people don’t want many chickens. Thats not a problem at all.

– Right, there are NO chicks forming. The hen would have to be setting on the eggs a few days in order for a heartbeat to form. You could even skip a 1-3 days befor you collect them, they will not go setting on the eggs until a bathc of 8 or more are there then the hen would sett constantly on them
3.) Do you reckon that will work?
– Yes, the hen will still give you eggs I have a few times taken some eggs from my hen al of them and she layed in same place.
I always wanted to have a special hen like one I have now to have chicks because she is sweet and at least let my chicken have a batch and find homes for all of them by placing in paper or in craigslist and keep 2 or 3 so she doesnt get sad and pick females instead of males

you need to take them out of the fridge now! they will die! they need heat. there is a special machine for baby chickens. Sell them to another farm or give them to the A.S.P.C.A.
Your killing them! That’s inhumane. Take them out of the fridge now please! Take them to a shelter with an incubator, or give them back to the hens until they hatch and are ancient enough to give away. Please don’t kill them.
