Is my Chicken Molting?

I went into my chicken coop today and her back tail feathers were gone…. i mean all of them… She has a bare but now. But so far ( this is day one of this weird feather thing ) she has only lost her back feathers. She is only about a year ancient. When do they lose there feathers? Someone please telll me she’s molting lol.

    If your in the UK then yes moulting now is normal at this time of year and will occur again around March. ( Varies on the weather ).
    But complete baldness would indicate a parasitic infection such as mites. Have a look through the feathers for very tiny white bugs and if they are present treat with an anti mite powder on the bird and the shed and the bedding and the nest box. Some treatments for mites can be applied to water and sprayed into the housing. The mites will happily live in the timber of a chicken coop for a very long time so they should be treated very thoroughly.

    Creasote used to be used but they banned the excellent stuff because it was carciogenic
