How to build and maintain a Chicken Coop

is my chicken ok. she seems to be a loner.?

i have recently bought 6 chickens that are supposed to be the same age, and are the same breed. though some are larger then the others. there is one particular chicken that doesn’t come out of the coop very often, she is the smallest and skinniest one. every time i have seen her she is in there. i have placed her with the other chickens which are fine around her but she just runs and hides. im not sure if she is to young or if there might be something incorrect.

When you bought your chickens did the people have other chickens besides your 6? If they did the ones that she lived with may have picked on her. There is a pecking order & older or more aggressive breeds may have pecked her & chased her from the rest of the flock. She may just be used to staying out of the way as to not get hurt. I would take some time everyday for her. Try to hand feed her bring her some special treats (bread, left over cooked pasta, veggie greens, chickens like just about everything) the others should come running when they see you are feeding her, feed them a small too, this may help her see this flock is not going to hurt her. There is also the possibility that with her being so small she may have something incorrect with her. Check her over excellent, look at her beak & make sure it is even & not crossed example when her beak is closed it should line up & not overlap or cross. If it is not lined up she may have a hard time eating which would clarify her weight. How ancient are they supposed to be & what breed? Sorry for all the questions but it is hard to answer yours without knowing certain details. I can say when I let my chickens out for the day all of mine go out. They may not hang together but they all look forward to getting out. I have had many chickens over the years & none ever picked the coup if they had a chance to be out, but then that brings me back to her age.

Well that is at least a start for you, feel free to email me or update your question I maybe able to answer you better. I hope I have helped you & your small chicken in some way. I like all animals & feel terrible that she is by herself.

nothin is incorrect if she is the youngest she might be slightly worried of the older ones and she might be like the runt of the pack try fedding her so she can get larger like the other chickens.
