  1. Just Q says:

Could be a type of parasite.

I work very hard at keeping my henhouse and nesting boxes clean to help avoid the kind of breeding places that a parasite might want to inhabit.

If I were you I would clean my henhouse and nesting boxes out VERY VERY excellent. Remove any and all bedding material you might have, cleaning the nesting boxes with bleach water.
I would dust all of my birds with a powder formulated for external parasites.

I would repeat this again as recommended per the manufacturer.

  2. That guy there says:

Clean your cage imediately, and go to the store to get powder to get rid of mites, that most likely what you have, dust the chickens legs, under the wings and yes, it sounds wierd, but below its tail feathers(its bum). if you dont those things can go as far as eating your chickens leg off, i had a hen that lost the ends of her toes because of mites after getting chickens from a swap meet. after that i always dust all my chickens for mites after getting new chickens.

And i mean clean everything. bedding if you have it, the nests even if you have eggs, take the hens out of the cage and then the eggs, and then change the nest. Then dust your chickens and let them run around in a cage for a while. it should go away.
