i want to raise about 25 or so chicks. what is the best breed for eating and will mature quick.
can i keep them in my barn- (getting really ancient) i have had steers and horses in there so its not the cleanest? if not what should i do? i also live on a farm and have two dogs.
what breed is the hardiest and has the least problems? some say cornish but they get leg problems and can get lame- other say buff orpingtons but they mature later.
i dont want to build a huge coop; just something honestly small that can hold 25 chicks safely and sturdily, some people say "chicken tractors". do you go them around every day and leave them in there for like their whole life? what about a transportation coop- is that too small?
what can i do?

I used to raise leghorns for FFA projects. At least that’s what I reckon the breed was. They are white with red combs on the roosters. I had 25 in a coop that was about 5×5 feet. They matured in about two months and had only one or two that had lameness problems. They will become cannabilistic if one is lame in the coop, but other than typical poultry problems, they are simple to raise.
